Assuming you have an open budget I recommend Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Camera  24.2 MP resolution, records HD videos at 60 fps, good shutter speed for continuous shots and ISO rating. Good ISO rating helps in low light photography. It also offer good battery life of upto 700 shots. It is easy to use and perfectly designed for beginners.

Assuming you do not have a specific requirement in terms of photography, I recommend Nikon D3300 24.2 MP DSLR Camera  This is one of the best entry level DSLR. Easy to use and good ISO rating. Battery life is also good.

I really don't advise using a entry level DSLR for weddings. But for everything else a Nikon D5300 is a great entry level camera. :)
