Novice Camera For Outdoors/travel

I travel for work, during the next year I will be going through Yellowstone, the California Redwoods, and Alaska. I would like to find something under 300. I will be doing a lot of hiking so I prefer something light weight and easy to carry with other gear. I would probably say scenic, action shots of animals, and photos taken while in motion are likely. Zoom in ability will obviously be very important, so would being able to take a clear pic when things are moving and adjusting to light conditions. Like I said I'm not a photographer, I just want to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to get some get shots.

Hello Heidi, Sony CyberShot DSC HX300 can be a very nice option for you as it has really got a perfect harmony of specs. Its Display resolution, Video resoultion, Optical Zoom, ISO range everything is perfect for the price tag. Exmor R CMOS Sensor Type will enahce your photography experience for sure. the only set back i see here is that this camera is slightly weighted and may move above your budget range of $300. So considering the weight and price among the important factor i will suggest check out Canon PowerShot SX500. It features a decent combination of specification with really affordable price:
