Amazon has released its own map APIs. A beta version of the APIs was launched in September this year. The launch of new API stops Amazon’s dependence on Google map APIs. According to Amazon, “Developers like Hipmunk, Evernote, Trulia and Zillow now use the Amazon Maps API on Kindle Fire HD and the all-new Kindle Fire”. The Amazon Map API can be used embed an interactive map view and also custom overlays to apps. The new Amazon Map APIs are included in Amazon Mobile App SDK.
