HTC has unveiled two new smartphones – called Windows Phone 8X and Windows Phone 8S, which run on the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS. Here is our take on them.
WINDOWS PHONE 8X
The 8X has a 1,280X720pixel (which gives it a 343ppi!) 4.3 inch Super LCD 2 display with Gorilla Glass 2 and a special anti-glare lamination. It is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, Adreno 225 GPU with 1GB RAM. On to the design, HTC has used a polycarbonate unibody design (looks strikingly similar to the new Nokia Lumia 920 ). It is 0.4inches think and weight 130g.On the connectivity front, it offers 3G (HSUPA/HSDPA), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with dual-band functionality, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and EDR, NFC, microUSB v2.0, GPS with A-GPS support, 3.5mm audio jack. It sports an 8MP autofocus cam with LED flash and a 2.1MP front cam. HTC is offering 16GB inbuilt storage. The device also comes with Beats Audio, but apparently does not include beats headphones in the package. It comes with a 1,800mAh battery.
Windows Phone 8S
The 8S is a smaller phone compared to the 8X. It has a 800X480pixel (233ppi) 4inch Super LCD display with Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, Adreno 225 GPU with 512MB RAM. It is 0.41 inches thick and weighs around 113g. On to connectivity, it offers 3G (HSUPA/HSDPA), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and EDR, microUSB v2.0, GPS with A-GPS support, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It has a 5MP cam which can record 720p videos at 30fps. Like the 8X, the 8S also has beats audio (lacking the headphones).8s sports a 1,700mAh battery.
The 8X is available in California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red and Limelight Yellow, whereas the 8S is available in Atlantic Blue, Domino, and High-Rise Grey.
Both the devices are expected to be out by November.
