Intex launches FitRist Activity Tracker and Aqua Craze

If one sees the performance of brands in the mobile sector in 2015, then it would be pretty evident that Intex is one of the Indian brands to share the top of the table with other established OEMs. The company has been on a sales high for quite some time now, and they are now launching two new devices in the country.

While the Intex Aqua Craze is a 4G ready smartphone with a lot of neat tricks up its sleeve, the other product offering – the FitRist activity tracker – is actually an interesting one, and marks the company’s first foray into the wearable tracker segment. In this article, we’ll talk about all that these devices have to offer.

THE AQUA CRAZE

The Intex Aqua Craze is the new addition to the 4G line of smartphones in the company’s portfolio. Featuring dual SIM capabilities, what sets the Aqua Craze apart is the Matrabhasha service, which enables the user to communicate in 21 regional languages.

The display on the device is a 5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1,280 x 720. The processor under the hood is a powerful 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, clocked at 1.5GHz. The GPU coming in tow with the processor is a Mali T720 processor.

The company has decided to go easy in the memory department, and the RAM capacity on the device is a mere 1GB. The onboard storage capacity is 8GB, which can be further expanded to 32GB via Micro SD card. In the optics department, the rear snapper has a resolution of 8MP, and the front facing shooter has a resolution of 2MP. The battery capacity is 2,500mAh.

The operating system running the show is Android 5.1 Lollipop. Intex has also decided to add some exclusive applications for the Aqua Craze, including Chaatz, Opera Mini, Clean Master and Newshunt. Priced at Rs. 6,190/-. it does fade in comparison against the likes of the Coolpad Note 3 Lite, or the Redmi 2 Prime, or even the ASUS ZenFone Max. But nonetheless, it seems a decent offering from an Indian brand. Colour options include Champagne Gold, Grey and White.

Meanwhile, Intex has a lawsuit against it from makers of Aqua Mobiles for using their trademark.

THE FITRIST ACTIVITY TRACKER

This is where things actually get interesting. We’ve seen other companies such as Xiaomi and YU make their presence in this sector, in the form of their Mi Band and YuFit offerings. Intex hopes to bring the game to these players in the wearable segment, in the form of the FitRist activity tracker.

The activity tracker by Intex comes with a wide gamut of sensors which enable the user to track a multitude of factors, such as steps walked, distance travelled, calories burnt and the hours spent sleeping along with the quality of sleep.

Also, the FitRist activity tracker comes with an OLED display that spans about 0.86 inches. This means that the fitness tracker will also be capable of showing the time and phone notifications regarding calls and messages. Additional features include the ability to control the phone’s music player and to use the sole button on the tracker as a shutter for taking photos through the smartphone – for this, a Bluetooth connection must be established.

The fitness tracker is compatible with Android devices with the Android version higher than v4.3 Jellybean, and iOS devices with iOS 7 or higher. The brand claims that the activity tracker has a battery life of twelve days on a single charge.

Much like the Mi Band and YuFit, the FitRist is also water-resistant and splash proof. Priced at Rs. 999/-, the FitRist comes in two colour variants – Dark Blue and White – and will be exclusively available on Snapdeal.
