When it comes to Indian smartphone OEMs, Micromax has been responsible for hogging the limelight for quite some time now, but that doesn’t imply that the other Indian corps such as Karbonn, Spice and Lava have thrown in the towel.
Lava recently announced two new products for the Indian market – a phone in the form of the Lava Iris Atom 3 and a tablet in the form of the Ivory M4. This article talks about all that these two new devices offer in terms of specifications and features.
Lava Iris Atom 3
Budget phones – and good budget phones at that – are somewhat of a rarity nowadays, but the Iris Atom 3 hopes to make a name for itself in the sub-5k range.
Notable features of the Atom 3 include a 5-inch display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor, 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 32GB and Android 5.1 Lollipop running the show.
There’s 512MB of RAM, which honestly doesn’t promise much in the memory department. As far as optics are concerned, the main camera is a 5MP shooter while the front facing camera is a 2MP snapper. There’s a 2000mAh battery powering up the device.
Special features include a multi-window-ish PIP feature, which allows the user to play a video while performing some other task on the phone. The user can also navigate through the music player without even unlocking the device. The phone also has a smart gesture recognition system, which allows the user to open up the Camera, Browser, Music Player or the Gallery by simply drawing characters on a locked display.
At a price point of Rs. 4,899 however, there’s not really much you can expect. The phone’s features are pretty sufficient for the price bracket. There hasn’t been a confirmed launch date yet for the device.
Lava Ivory M4
In a parallel launch to strengthen its tablet portfolio within the country, the company also took the covers off their Ivory M4 tablet.
Featuring an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800, the Ivory M4 has 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Running the show is a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor. As far as optics go, the rear shooter has a resolution of 8MP while the front camera has a resolution of 3.2MP for an enhanced video calling experience.
The battery is a stellar 4000mAh one, and the operating system on board is Android 5.1 Lollipop. The tablet is capable of supporting a single 3G SIM card for calling functionalities.
The tablet is priced at Rs. 9,299/- , which should make the tablet segment industry when it comes to offering specifications at budget price points.
