After almost a decade in use, Microsoft decided to replace its aging Windows Mobile platform. So in October 2010, Microsoft launched its new OS platform for smartphones called Windows Phone. Now after two years of its launch and lots of enhancements, Windows Phone based smartphones are gaining significance, especially after the launch of Windows Phone 8.  Now if you are thinking of buying a Windows based smartphone, you mostly would have only considered Nokia’s Lumia series. But what about the other Windows based devices? So, we have prepared a list of Windows Phone based smartphones which have been launched recently or are going to be launched in the near future.


Alcatel One Touch View (Dec 2012)


Alcatel Mobile Phones (joint venture between Alcatel-Lucent of France and TCL Communication of China), had announced their new Windows Phone 7.8 based smartphone, the One Touch View, in October. The One Touch View was launched on 17 December 2012 in Russia with a price tag of 6990 Rubles (£140 or $227). It is the first device to run Windows Phone 7.8. The One Touch View is expected to be available in other markets soon.
