Review of Samsung Galaxy S DUOS

Samsung Galaxy S duos was available and released on September 2012.As the name defines itself, it is a mid-range smart-phone loaded with dual sim feature which gives you an option to juggle your calls between two sims. It also contains some cool features with the Android version 4.0 (ICS) out of the box.

Let’s go through the features of this dual sim juggler which makes it special .

Display
It has a 4.0 inches TFT capacitive touch-screen which gives a really decent viewing experience. It has the capability of playing 720pi high quality videos but it shows a little lag some times. It plays 420pi videos very smoothly. You can have up to 7 home screens which mean you are one touch away from accessing more apps right from the home screen.

Camera
S DUOS is equipped with 5MP primary camera and with VGA front camera for video chatting. The 5MP camera comes with so many features that you will always be eager what new can you do on your clicks. Also it contains LED flash so you have the option of clicking your pictures at night or in dark places too. Samsung have not just worked on the hardware to give its users a good experience but also worked on the OS pretty well.

Processor And RAM
Its 1 Ghz Cortex-A5 single core processor gives decent speed and helps in multitasking. It has 768 MB of RAM, multiple windows can be opened but the performance is average. Browser is smooth and scrolling is decent. It comes with Android 4.0 (ICS) during its release which can be upgraded to Android 4.1(jelly beans).

Memory
It has a 4GB internal memory and expandable up to 32GB through microSD card slot. So you get more space to store your pictures, data and your favorite songs.

Body
It is just 120 grams in weight which is pretty light. It’s looks are similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S3. It has a volume rocker at the left side and power button at the right side. In the bottom there is the charging port and at the top 3.5mm jack is available. It comes in three ravishing colors (Black, White and La Fleur).

Battery
It has a standard Li-ion 1500mAh battery which gives up to 330 hr (3G) and 445hr (2G) at standby mode. It gives up to 13hr (2G) and 7hr 35mins (3G) in talktime mode.

Cons

  • UI tends to lag at times.
  • This phone won’t give you smoothest experience as at times it shows lags.
  • When you want to scroll quickly on your browser, it does not do that properly.
  • Many games can be played but the GPU is pretty weak so it does cause some problems playing high end futuristic games.

Verdict
Galaxy S Duos is an average Smartphone. At the price range of Rs. 15,000 ,it manages to give you the feel of dual core smartphone. If you don’t want to keep two cell phones in your pocket DUOS S saves you a lot trouble. As I said in the beginning it is an average Smartphone but it serves it’s main purpose of dual sim  juggler pretty well.
