The Rolls Royce. Historic and resplendent in its royal outlook and presence, its the very epitome of luxury and the highest end of the automobile market. In fact it would be even sacrilege to speak of any of the Rolls Royce family as just an automobile. Its a vehicle that charts the boundaries of all normal automobiles and masterpieces. Any vehicle from the Rolls Royce family, be it from the phantom series or the ghost series is a distinguished craft in itself and always carry a formidable air of formality, luxury and high handedness. Well that’s to say almost always, because with the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, Rolls Royce has done something it has never done ever before. Drop its aura of formality. However this one is for the better. Although it has shed the formal air normally associated with the Rolls Royce vehicles, it has incorporated or more clearly brought back the aura of the golden age open air vehicles with the Phantom Drophead Coupe and let me be upfront, the drophead is really dropdead gorgeous.

Phantom Drophead Coupe Speak:
The Phantom Drophead Coupe is primarily about three things that matter in an automobile being the vehicle 0f dreams, namely:
- Drive experience
So on a one on one allow me to take you through these three statements that make a mark with the Phantom Drophead Coupe from Rolls Royce.
Design Speak: The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is designed to carry the old world open air vehicle charm along with the modern day luxury swagger of the Rolls Royce emblem. The interiors have been designed with an all inclusive surroundings created with natural materials, so that the occupants have the targeted feel of being on an yacht. The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe carries the familiar Rolls Royce head lamp design, especially attractive on this vehicle because of the LED daylight running lamp bar in the middle between the dipped and high beam functions. The headlights are adaptive LED Headlamps which speak measures about the car even before you would have used it.
The Phantom Drophead Coupe is available in sixteen different colors with further customization options available including mix colour toning from a swatch, two tone finishes and hand painted five metre coachlines. Phantom Drophead Coupé’s optional brushed steel bonnet features a hand-applied brushed finish, which gives the bonnet a soft sheen. Accentuating the lines of the car it creates an unbroken flow of bright steel that runs from the grille, around the A-frame windscreen surround and along the waistline of the passenger compartment and tonneau cover.
Technology Speak: Rolls Royce always works towards unifying performance of the technologies on board any of its vehicles to give a uniquely collaborated driving experience. The Phantom Drophead Coupe sports a hand welded from over 500 separate pieces advanced aluminium spaceframe which has been adapted from the Phantom.
The muscular aluminium V12 engine offers effortless power, with 75% of torque available from 1,000 rpm. With a lowcentre of gravity and slightly rear-biased weight, Phantom Drophead Coupé’s drive is as spirited as its looks suggest.
The new 8-speed gearbox offers a greater choice of gears, reduced CO² emissions with better fuel consumption. The two additional gears accentuate the feeling of smooth, endless acceleration from standing or at speed.
The infotainment system on the Phantom Drophead Coupe is one of its kind with features like the 8.8 inch front monitor that doubles up as a view interface while using the new hard drive based navigation system on the road and a video interface while watching the favourite DVD in stand still position. The redesigned Rotary controller puts everything at your fingertips for effortless operation. The smartphone cradle, USB and Aux-in options offer improved connectivity while in the vehicle.
What I find the most satisfying part of the technology in a Rolls Royce is the integration of view cameras. In the Phantom Drophead Coupe, the front/side cameras offer a clear views of the road in either direction. The top and rear view cameras make the task of reversing and having a 360 degree viewpoint around the car a very possibility.
The Rolls Royce Phantom on a driving experience and a driver’s comfort really stands out. It handles twists and turns with elan and the traction on the road is really good. What I also like is the braking system on it and the comfort feeling that is sported at high cruising speeds even. All in all the Phantom Drophead Coupe is the epitome of the Rolls Royce brand all the way.
I feel like the following with this star of a vehicle:
The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead is priced at 360,500 euros.
