Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus : Review

The first thing that comes to our mind when we talk about Galaxy is Samsung and their Galaxy line. We have talked a lot about the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II. But, what about the mid-range Galaxy devices? Well, today we have a mid-range Galaxy device: the Galaxy Ace Plus. Here is our take.

Design

The design of the Galaxy Ace Plus is decent. The Plus does remind us of its predecessor, the Galaxy Ace. This is mainly due to form factor. But Samsung has made few tweaks to the design.  The Galaxy Ace Plus has tapered back made of shiny black plastic. This glossy plastic is a bit slippery, but the phone is comfortable to hold, and the screen is small enough to reach everywhere with your thumb only, making the handset suitable for one-handed operation. Dimensions wise the device measures 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2 mm.

Hardware

Display: The Galaxy Ace Plus has a 3.6 inch TFT display. It has a resolution of 320X480 pixels which gives it a pixel density of 158ppi, which is a bit on the downside. Brightness wise, the display is usable on a cloudy day. But not so on a sunny day.

Processor:  The Ace Plus has a single core 1GHz Qualcomm snapdragon. Which is pretty basic, but works well for those who don’t use their mobile device as a personal computer.

Camera: The Ace Plus has a 5MP rear cam which can take 2592x1944px pics. But it can only record VGA videos @30fps.

Memory: The Galaxy Ace Plus comes with an internal storage capacity of 3GB. It is also provided with a microSD slot which can support up to 32GB. It also has 512MB of RAM.

Connectivity: The device comes with HSDPA, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and a microUSB port which doubles as a charging port. It also supports A-GPS.

Battery:  The Ace Plus comes with a 1300mAh battery which can give a talk time of up to 11 hours.

Software

The Ace Plus comes with Android 2.3 Ginger Bread out of the box, with touchwiz 4.0. But it can be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung does include its bundle of apps with device, like facebook, chatON, etc.

Price: Rs.15,000
