In a fresh attempt by Videocon today to get a grip on some portion of the smartphone market in India, it launched the A20 and A30 phones in the lower end smartphone segment. These phones on the Android platform are Videocon’s renewed efforts at gaining a foothold in the android smartphones segment too. With the low end smartphone market being a beckoning beacon for mobile manufacturers with Samsung taking away almost every bit of the higher end smartphone market, Videocon is trying to capitalize by moving in fast in this segment.
The Videocon A20 is priced at 4999 INR and features the Android 2.3, 1 Ghz Qualcomm processor, 3.5-inch HVGA display, 1350 mAh battery, 3MP rear camera, front VGA camera, expandable memory up to 16GB, Bluetooth, FM Radio with Recording and GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA connectvity.
The phones also come equipped with pre-l0aded apps like Facebook, TOI, Gesture Search etc.
Videocon A30 will be priced at INR 7,299 and comes with 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), 4.0-inch WVGA capacitive display, 1500 mAh battery, FM Radio with Recording, Expandable Memory up to 32 GB, Bluetooth, GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA capabilities along with Wi-Fi, and GPS. The A30 also comes pre-loaded with several apps.
On the camera action, the smartphone packs in a 5 MP rear camera and a front VGA Camera.
All in all I must say these phones are worthy entrants into the android smartphone genre and specifically into the low end smartphone segment and present a feasible option to buyers in this segment.
