Yu had been giving small teasers about their upcoming flagship for quite some time now. While they claimed it to be the ‘most powerful phone in the world’, as a journalist this writer did take some things with a pinch of salt.
But I had to reconsider them seriously when I saw the specs of the Yutopia.
The Yu Yutopia is the company’s flagship for this year, and it offers some amazing specifications for the price point at which it is offered at. This article will be talking about all that the Yutopia has to offer.
Design:
The Yutopia is made of aircraft-grade aluminum. The camera lens is reminiscent of its earlier device – the Yuphoria. Snuggled under the rear camera is the fingerprint sensor.
Display:
The display on the Yutopia is a 5.2 inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels), that offers a staggering pixel density of 565 ppi. The display is manufactured by Sharp, and has TP OGS (One Glass Solution) technology, that promises more vivid colors and better clarity.
Processor:
The Yutopia’s true prowess is revealed when you see what’s under the hood, and in this case it’s a Snapdragon 810 SoC that is clocked at 1.8 GHz (2GHz Cortex-A57 quad-core coupled with 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core). The GPU is the Adreno 430.
Memory:
The Yutopia has a very healthy 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and 32GB of inbuilt memory which can be further expanded to 128 GB via Micro SD cards.
Cameras:
As far as the optics are concerned, the rear camera is a Sony made 21 Megapixel shooter. It has features such as Exmor RS IMX230 Sensor, true tone dual LED Flash, a 5P Lens and Optical Image Stabilisation (that is quite rare to find in mid-range devices). The main camera is capable of shooting videos with a resolution of up to 4K.
The front shooter is an 8 Megapixel camera, also with 5P lens. 5P indicates the aperture of f/5, and the number of lens elements present within the camera (in this case, 5). The more the number of elements, the clearer the picture.
Software:
The Yutopia runs Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Other Features:
The Yutopia comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor, dual SIM capabilities (one Micro SIM and one Nano SIM), a 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 – that is capable of charging up the phone from 0 percent to 60 percent in under half an hour.
Besides these, the phone comes bundled with Little Bird earphones – that have been manufactured by House of Marley. These earphones go hand in hand with the DTS audio experience on the device, with three microphones enabling effective noise cancellation.
Finally, the phone also comes bundled with Yu’s own All-in-one search application – the Around Yu. This is an application which can help users with looking up shopping sites and hotel/flight booking services too.
Pricing and Availabilty:
The Yutopia is priced at a mouth-watering Rs. 24,999/-, which puts it in direct competition with the likes of the OnePlus 2 . Pre-bookings for the phone have already begun on Amazon India, and the phone will go on sale from December 26th onwards.
