Moto G 2nd Gen Overview

Published :

The Good

  • Strong Battery
  • Good Camera
  • Expandable memory

The Bad

  • Display could have been better

The Bottom Line

Moto G2 is perfect for everyday use, gaming, internet browsing and ofcourse calling. Improved camera and expandable memory slot add cherry on the cake. Best mid budget smartphone one can get their hands on.

Motorola tasted success with Moto G and now is back with its successor which is more refined and improved in terms of features and specifications. This device conquers all the shortfalls of Moto G. This device is a complete package and great value for money. This is priced same ad Moto G to repeat the success story. When Moto G was launched it almost had no contenders in that budget range. Now other manufacturers also offer good smartphones in the same budget range increasing the competition for Moto G2. Motorola being associated to Google might offer Lollipop OS update to this device. Just like Moto G successor device for Moto X name Moto X2 is already available in market. These two devices are probably the first one which will get the latest OS updates.

Design and Build:

Moto G2 resembles its predecessor Moto G when it comes to the design and body panel. The phone is neatly sculpted with curvy edges and matt finish. It fits well in palm, all thanks to its curvy back panel. Large 5 inches display with thin bezel gives it a premium look. Volume rocker buttons are placed conveniently on the right hand side of the phone. Its IPS LCD screen is bright and offers crisp colors. This display is good enough even in bright outdoors. This smartphone weighs 149 grams which is 7 grams higher than Moto G.

Camera Performance:

Moto G2 is blessed with 8MP rear snapper along with LED flash. This is where Moto G2 shows update from Moto G which carries 5 MP rear camera. With this camera images are brighter and crisp. They do not lose their natual colors when in contrast which was the issue customers faced earlier. There is no shutter lag issue in imaging. Motorola has blissfully packed 2MP front camera which manages video chats and selfies in an incredible manner. Overall the camera works fine in day light as well as in night, however you cannot compare it with other smartphones in the market which offer great imaging experience in dark.

Display Clarity:

Moto G2 has a 5 inch screen offering a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with 294 ppi. Viewing angles are good and the screen also maintains its visibility level even in bright sunlight. Display offers a great deal of crispiness and clarity. Display is guarded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Processing Speed:

Moto G is propelled by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 quad core processor. The Quad core processor is definitely a steal in this segment. The processor is coupled with a 1GB RAM. Moto G2 performs as smooth as butter and multitasking seems a piece of cake. Graphics on this device are supported by Adrena 305 GPU. This smartphone lets you play most of the graphic intensive games with a relative ease and that is surely an icing on the cake at this price.

Power On It:

Quad Cores are always known as power sappers but Motorola has optimized Moto G2 to last for 24 hours of mix usage thanks to its 2070 mAh battery unit. The phone doesn't heat up even after prolonged use. It offers 11 hours of talktime. Moto G2 lets the users enjoy HD videos for ~7 hrs before asking for charge. Moto G2 has an excellent battery unit which will wont let the phone die for a long time.

Moto G2 is the perfect choice for users looking for a smartphone without burning a hole in their pocket. Prices same as Moto G attracts more customers as it carries improved specifications. It offers the perfect balance of value for money and highend specification. User need not compromise on anything. This is certainly one of the best smartphones at this price in the market.

Smart Phone With Good Camera, Battery, And Internal Memory

1) Budget - within Rs 12000

it has decent camera, really good performance (as compared to other devices available in this price range). Please dont go after the high-end on paper specifications mentioned under other smartphones because the true story is something else. These high-end on paper specifications do not guarantee good performance, because performance is the result of right combination between hardware and software. other smartphones are usually equipped with heavier version of Android where, number of bloatwares are already installed on the device thus making it really difficult even for the Octa Core Processor to run the device efficiently when a user install more application over the device. Hence Motorola moto G 2nd which is available with stock android will help you to a good combination of display. performance, camera and audio speakers. Moto G 2nd Gen

Budget Smartphone With Android Lollipop And Good Specs

Expecting a good device with lollipop, recently launched arnd 20k with atleast 1gb ram quad core processor and atleast and 8mp camera with good audio output

You will have to increase your budget a little bit to adjust Google Nexus 5 in your budget, because this is the best device with Android Lolipop in this price range. Moreover, you must know that all these devices with stock android are the first devices to receive upgrades from Google for their Android OS. Apart from this, the kind of specification that Google Nexus 5 has, is really good and hence the performance of the phone has actually increased after this upgrade. Go Ahead and buy this one, without having any second thoughts.

I zeroed in on Moto G 2nd gen cos its offering me the basic specs i require along with near stock android experience . is it a good bet or shud i go for any other in the sub 20k segment?

Moto G 2 is a great bet as far as value for money is concerned. Go for it!!

Thank you :)

Smartphone With A Good Camera And Ram And Highly Durable

Budget is 15000rs which should not have very long screen and a good brand

Hi Radhika, In this price range you can consider Moto G 2nd generation, which has a screen size 5 Inches and I am considering 5 Inches to be a normal screen size of the device. It also has Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which will be good enough to provide a good performance with the heavy application on the device. Motorola is also considered to be a big brand name now, especially when Nexus 6 will be named after this brand. So, all the requirements mentioned by you are being covered here, hence go ahead and get one.

I am planning to htc desire 816 g.. instead of moto g 2 ? is it better?

SMART PHONE With Good Camera

Camera with 8 mega pixel, 512 ram, KIT KAT, good internet speed on 2g and 3g and camera with smile detection, flash

Hi Kunika, With these requirements you could go for, Moto G 2nd Generation. Moto G 2nd Gen It has got every as mentioned by you.

SmartPhone With Good Camera, Battery Backup And No Hang Up

Smart Android phone within 7k - 13K which better performance, no hang up, good camera, good battery back up. Email configuration, high speed RAM, easy to use, spacious

I will suggest go for Motorla Moto G - 2nd genration. it is a very nice device with a perfect compbination os specification for this budget range. It has a a very premium built and hence creates a positive rich impression. The perfrmance of the device is also amazing with Quad core preocessor designed on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and supported by 1GB RAM.. Display is also superb for gaming, working with text and watching movies. Camera, is also decent and the device looks totally worth for Rs.13K. order the device here: Moto G 2nd Gen

Smartphone With Best Camera, battery And Processing Power.

1) the phone should't hang while using apps 2) price below 15000

Xiaomi Mi3 and Moto G can be two very nice option for you. Xiaomi Mi3 is really a featured device with a price tag of Rs.13,999. It will be processing on Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad core processor. The processor will get a support of 2GB RAM to ensure best performance. Camera, Display and Internal Memory is also amazing. The only prob with the phone is its not easily avilable. Today was made avilable in Flipkart and went out of stock in around 5 mins...and next distribution cycle at Flipkart will start on 6th Aug.. So if you cannot wait then Moto G can also be a nice option. It has a decent mixture of specs with a primium built.

Smartphone With Value For Money

If i have choose between Moto G and LG Optimus L90 D410, what should I choose. Are there any other options you could suggest? I am looking for phone that would last at least 2 year.

The two phones u selected are the best phone under 15k budget. Both phone are more or less equally good. I would prefer LG L90 because of better primary camera and freedom to use expand memory through memory card and of-course its slimmer. Incase u dont care about camera too much go for Moto G 16GB 16gb is more than enough for normal usage will cost u 13999 and looks and design wise moto g looks better and premium.

Best Android Smartphone To Buy Under Rs. 18000?

I need the following features in my phone:min 5inch multitouch internal > 8GB external expandable to 32GB RAM > 1GB processor >1GHz

I suggest you go for Moto G 16GB version i know its not expandable and has 4.3 inch screen. 4.3 inch is the most optimum screen size to begin with. Moto G comes packed with hardware like Quad core Snapdragon 600 processor. Motorola has begun rolling out the KitKat update for Moto G making it the best choice currently. P.S- It costs 13900 which means you can save some bucks and allot yourself a budget for accesories.

Should I Buy Moto G Or Go With Nexus 5?

I need a phone that is from a good dependable brand and also has regular OS updates. Price is not a limitation

Hi Abhishek if price is not a limitation i would suggest you to go for Nexus 5. Moto G is a superb phone that offers load of features at a reasonably low price. It would be better if you go for a Nexus 5 and not restrict yourself with features offered by Moto G. Nexus 5 has a Snapdragon 800 which has a better architecture as compared to the Snapdragon 600. Nexus 5 has a better camera at 8MP. Wrapping it up go for Nexus 5 and you will certainly feel the additional features are worth the extra cash!

Looking For A Decent Smartphone With Good Operations. Help Out

Bhaskar look no further Motorola latest offering the Moto G is the best choice for you. It has a Quad core Snapdragon 600 chipset clocked at a nifty 1.2 GHz. Android KitKat further ensures that the performance is upto the mark and their are no lags as such. The best part -Moto G is retailing for 12.5 k which is a superb value for money.
