There has been a tremendous growth of phones in the sub 20k sector, and we’ve been seeing more and more companies launch feature rich devices within this price bracket. Following the success of the likes of the Asus Zenfone , Moto G line and the Mi and OnePlus devices, Panasonic recently launched their mid-range Eluga Mark phone in India.
Targeted at the consumers seeking security features as well as great specifications in a comfortable budget, the Eluga Mark offers quite a few aspects which might make competitors rethink their pricing strategies, and in this article we take a look at all that this phone has to offer.
The Eluga Mark comes with features which are well suited for the price point at which it is offered at. The display is a 5.5 inch 720p IPS display, which although isn’t quite crisp on feature, should suffice and do justice to its price. Under the hood, the phone houses a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC that is clocked at 1.5 GHz. In the memory department, there is a healthy 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of inbuilt storage which may be further expanded via Micro SD cards.
As far as the optics are concerned, there is a 13 MP rear shooter and a 5 MP front facing camera. Powering up the device is a 2,500 mAh battery, and the OS on the device is Android 5.1 Lollipop with Panasonic’s proprietary FitHome UI layered on top.
An interesting feature that the company has incorporated is the fingerprint sensor that’s housed at the rear of the device, beneath the camera. Phones with fingerprint sensors are somewhat of a rarity in India, and the Panasonic Eluga Mark might just be one of the very few devices to offer it at a low price point.
According to the company’s official release, the Panasonic Eluga Mark is targeted at security oriented consumers who constantly rely on cloud data and high risk activities. The phone also comes equipped with Android for Work, which allows enhanced IT security and supports BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) compatibility for operation on secure networks.
With the inclusion of the fingerprint sensor – which can support up to 8 different fingerprints – the security aspect of this phone is paramount, and the company hopes to attract people looking for private smart devices with advanced security optimization.
For the display, OnePlus have decided to incorporate a 5 inch 1080p AMOLED display, with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, with a pixel density of 440ppi. Juicing up the X is a 2525mAh battery.
PRICING AND SALES:
The Eluga Mark will be offered in two colour variants – Royal Gold or Metallic Grey. Priced at Rs. 11,990/-, this phone offers direct competition to the likes of the Lenovo K3 Note and Moto G3, among other devices. The launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the phone will be sold in both online and offline retail outlets.
