The Bottom Line

Sony Xperia SP is a good looking smartphone which is loaded with decent specs as expected in a mid range smartphone making it a good buy to check out.

Sony Xperia SP is a good looking mid range smartphone released by Sony. Sony Xperia SP looks like a descendant of high range smartphone, Sony Xperia Z but with mid range features and specs. The mid range features include good camera, lively display, amazing battery life and performance. Sony Xperia SP gives good competition to the mid range smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Design And Build:

Even though the Sony Xperia SP is a mid range smartphone the looks and esthetics are really stunning which gives the feel of a high end smartphone. The Sony Xperia SP is a bar shaped whose body is made up of plastic. The edges are a edgy and pointed. The size of the display is just 4.6 inches which is small and it is just 10 mm in thickness which is very thin and easily fits in the pocket. Most of the design is similar to Sony Xperia Z but it doesn't have metallic chasis or back panel. The weight of the phone is 155 which is quite heavy compared to other smartphone of same size like Samsung Galaxy Nexus .

Camera Performance:

The Sony Xperia SP comes with a 8 MP camera which manages to give some decent clicks. Compared to the other smartphones with the same camera resolution the quality of the images and videos are good. There are many different options which are present in Sony Xperia SP's camera app with which you can get some amazing pictures. The images in high light look a bit over exposed. It picks out details nicely especially darker tones and the colour reproduction is impressive while taking close-up items. There is also effect like panoroma mode which gives pretty good stiched image but the moving images look a bit smudged. The Camera is also accompanied by LED flash which helps to take images in dark and a 0.3 MP front camera which lets the user to video call and use Skpe.

Display Clarity:

The one feature which defines the brand Sony is its awesome display. The colours and the blacks present in the screen of Sony Xperia SP are very deep, clear and radiant. The resolution of the screen is 720 x 1280 pixels which gives lively images and videos with more sharpness and clarity. The display is not to the edge of the case like HTC One, The user can still see bezel's around the Sony Xperia SP's gorilla glass display. The screen is protected by gorilla glass which protects it from scratches and breaking easily. It is a TFT LCD screen which suffers occasionally with decent viewing angles. The one of the good features of the display is that comes with the capacitive screen which gives upto 10 fingers touch interface which makes high end gaming fun.

Processing Speed:

The processing speed of Sony Xperia SP is good compared to most of the smartphones in the market with the same price range. It comes with 1.7 Ghz dual core Qualcomm processor which gives good speed which is supported by 1 GB RAM. The Sony Xperia SP is loaded with Android V4.1.2 JellyBeans which is upgradable to the new Android V4.2.2 JellyBeans. Instead of small screen compared to Sony Xperia Z the interface speed and performance is pretty good which gives decent output to the user. The touch screen interface is smooth with less lags and hangs compared to most of the android devices.

Power On It:

The Sony Xperia SP comes with a 2370 mAh Li-ion battery which gives good battery life. It gives around 635 hrs and 764 hrs of standby at 2G and 3G respectively. It also gives around 10.41 hrs and 19 hrs of talktime at 2G and 3G modes. Though battery life is long it drains quickly because of the back lit screen and various apps. There is a Stamina Mode which switches off all the applications which are running at the back when the phone is not in use. It readily fires all the applications back when you press the power button. Also the battery is not removable so you dont have the option of using a secondary battery whenever you are out of juice.

Sony Xperia SP is a good looking smartphone by Sony which is loaded with decent specs and features giving good competition to the midrange smartphones. All in all a decent smartphone worth buying.

Panasonic P81/sony Xperia Sp

Which one is better in performance, sound quality and software wise?

Sony Xperia SP without doubt, it has an amazing snapdragon processor and definitely better sound, decent 1GB RAM, better screen resolution and pretty good looking too. looking at after sale service and brand reliability its worth putting ur money on sony phone. Sony Xperia SP p81 spec wise on paper might look good but performance wise sony excels it

Which Has A Better Camera Between The Nexus 4 And The Sony Xperia SP?

I wanted to know which of the listed phone options can I buy so as to take better photos in daylight as well as dim lighted conditions

Of course Xperia SP has better one. Nexus 4 runs on stock android so do not expect it to be that good.

Which Is A Better Phone To Buy Sony Xperia SP Or Sony Xperia C?

I need a phone from the asked options which will be better for playing hd games and watching movies ?

Kamal Xperia C is not a good choice because it has only 4GB of internal memory which can handicap the device as the users cant install and play heavy games. The MediaTek processor lags a lot resulting in a poor gaming experience. I would suggest you to go for the MotoG which comes with a Snapdragon Quad core processor and can run the top end games with relative ease.

Is Sony Xperia SP A Good Value For Money Phone

I need to know if the Sony Xperia SP carries a good value for money

The Sony Xperia SP is a good phone with standard features for a phone in its budget range. However it is not exactly a value for money phone because the features that it carries are rather less for the price at which it comes. I feel for your needs the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos will be a much better phone with features that are almost similar to the Sony Xperia SP apart from the processing capabilities. Moreover it comes for a price below that of the Sony Xperia SP.

Best Mid Range Smartphone From Sony

I need the best mid range smartphone options from Sony which carry decent enough camera features

Sony features its better phones normally above the Rs.20000 price bracket, therefore a mid range smartphone option is rather limited, especially if you are expecting some good features. However one phone that you can probably opt for is the Sony Xperia SP, which carries very decent camera capabilities and also is available within a price bracket of Rs.18k-19k.

Between Xperia C At 16k And Xperia SP At 21k, Which Is A Better Choice ?

I need to know if I would be gaining anything by buying a costlier Sony Xperia SP or is it better to get a Sony Xperia C

Vinay its worth shelling down around 2k more and go for Xperia SP. The primary reason why i no more feel that Xperia C worthy of buying is that it comes with 4GB memory in which only 2.9 GB will be available for the user. This is very low considering that most modern games like Asphalt consume 1 to 2 GB of memory. Another reason i would recommend you to go for the Xperia SP is that it has a Qualcomm processor which is definitely better than the Mediatek processor when it comes to performance.

Is The Sony Xperia SP A Worthy Buy

I am looking to buy a new mobile. Donot have much high a budget, so need to know if the Sony Xperia SP is a good option.

The Sony Xperia SP is a good option, and there is no doubt about that. But I believe at even a more lower budget it would be worthwhile to get the Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro. The reason being, the Sony Xperia SP doesnot really come out as a good looking phone and with its features is not really worth the price it comes for. Instead the Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro even though carrying lesser features comparatively than the Sony Xperia SP, still has enough on it to be a good value for money and a good looking phone.
